Phobias
A phobia an unusually strong and irrational fear of a certain object or situation that does not arouse similar feelings of fear in the average person. These intense, irrational fears cannot be ignored or overcome even when the sufferer is fully aware, as is usually the case, that there is no reason to have that fear.
A phobic is a person who has a phobia of something. Phobic anxiety is the name given to a state of worry caused by a phobia. Most people have at Ieast one mild phobia. Severe phobias, however, can seriously disrupt normal living. Behaviour therapy is a common form of treatment.
A fear of snakes (Ophidiophobia or Snakephobia) is one of the most common phobias.
